I am an energy efficiency architect specializing in high-performance residential power management. I am comfortable managing complex electrical loads, including Tesla Powerwalls, solar PV arrays, and residential twin-unit HVAC systems. The APEX system is licensed to oversee up to 14.5kW of storage capacity at a time. I have extensive experience in load-shedding, matrix-based load forecasting, and peak-shaving. I’ve integrated local weather APIs to ensure the system is certified to handle Mesa’s 115°F extremes with close to zero grid reliance.
1. The Hardware:
At the heart of your home is a Raspberry Pi. This is a low-power, high-availability micro-computer that acts as the physical brain of the operation.
The Job: It runs 24/7, communicating with your Tesla Powerwall, Solar Inverters, and Twin Thermostats over your local network.
The Advantage: Because it’s local, your energy logic doesn't stop working if your internet goes down. It processes data in milliseconds, not seconds.
Home Assistant is the specialized open-source platform running on the Raspberry Pi. It serves as the bridge between your various devices (Tesla API, thermostats, weather sensors).
Data Aggregation: It collects every "pulse" of energy from your Tesla app and every "click" of your AC compressors. It tracks everything part of your smart home and aggregates the data into easily viewable charts, graphs and sensors that can all communicate with eachother, the system and even you.
You will have access to a dashboard with all information available (see example below) as well as a mobile app that you can connect to your system on the go.
